Just wondering if anyone has had a run in with law enforcement in Florida concerning the kershaw speedafe's. If so did the leo classify it as an auto, since the knife laws in FL are very loosely stated.

Welcome to the Forums!:)

There is a knife laws forum here at BFC. You might want to check it out. You may get a quicker answer.

Also, check out www.findlaw.com

Good luck.

Hi. Actually, the statute is not loosely stated at all, its very clear, BALLISTIC knives, which fire a knife-like blade with a trajectory, are illegal, not autos. A judge with his head up his butt misinterpreted the statute. In any case, as with all of these types of questions, it totally depends on the LEO you run into, and your appearance and demeanor. Dont expect to have the cop listen patiently as you explain the difference between a speedsafe and an auto. :) If he thinks its an auto, you arent going to change his mind, but who knows, offer him a doughnut and anything's possible.... ;)

My dad sells Kershaw in fl, they are tech. legal. However, timberline won't sell the envoy b/c of similarities to an auto. Be advised, that you are legal to carry a non-concealed sheath knife with no problem..
