i was wondering if it was better to store a kershaw in the open position... does keepng it closed for a long period place unnessasary stress on the torsion bar? the reason i ask is because i was always told to store guns with the firing pin in the fired position and not cocked, since it saves the spring. does the same hold true for knives equipped wth speedsafe?

Theoretically, it's probably better for long-term storage, to store them in the open position. As a practical matter, I don't know if it makes much difference and if the torsion bar spring needed to be replaced, it would be done under warranty by Kershaw.

Just my opinion.:)

The spring (torsion bar) on the kershaw is well designed, should'nt cause a problem at all. Also if something happened it easy to replace.
