I just wanted to post this to let everyone know what a great company Speedtech is to deal with. I sent my synergy in for service required due to my own error. The knife was returned back to me in less than a week. Not only was there no charge to me for anyhing but I was happy to note my name had been engraved on the clip when I opened the box!

These guys deserve a pat on the back, not only for putting out one of the finest products in the industry but also for customer service above and beyond any I have experienced.

I'll second that. I haven't needed to experience their customer service, but continue to be very happy with my Synergy. Great knife.

Ordered mine on Sunday by email to Jim. Gave billing info yesterday by phone. Got a great knife today. (I asked for 2 day air. Turned out like overnight.)

If only they all work this way...

Folks, regardless of the "handmade" vs. "production" perspective, the Synergy has got to be one of the finest fit and finished folders I've seen yet.

And, I wouldn't mind winning this month's giveaway either...

I would love to join the choir and sing Jim's praises on High. Another great turnaround story, I contacted Jim on Sat. to see if #20 of the Al E. ground swept points for the Bladeshow West was still available. He had it, and had the blade put in my handle of choice and shipped out to me on Monday morning. I recieved it today, and it is one smooth, comfortable folder, a great sweeping blade and a handle that puts the blade up front.

Terrific service, and any company that offers a knive without the clip and then sends a totally unexpected ballistic nylon sheath with the company logo into the package is top notch in my book. I am one happy customer, and it seems that I am not alone. Here's to getting in one the ground floor, fellows!

I carry my SpeedTech folder everyday. I love this knife and it is very useful. the balance is great and blade holds an edge. As far as the service goes, you can't beat them. Melanie is a wonderful person. My SpeedTech is well worth the money.

What do these things retail for? There aren't any prices on their (awesome) website.

Anyone know the difference between the Synergy and the Synergy Slim?

Is the clip positioned for tip up or down carry?

Jon

Well their prices go from 250 for something like this months cover knife to 800 for a Ti and damascus version. They are tip down carry. The slims have a thinner handle. You can't go wrong with a Speedtech.I already have 2 soon to be 3 when my Ti and damascus is done.

WOW!! We're really blown away by all of your kind words and positive feedback. It's extremely gratifying to know that you guys appreciate what we are trying to accomplish. I guess we're headed down the right path.

Apologies to all for the missing information in the website. We're in the process of addressing that issue.

Jon- To answer your questions:

1) Our pricing is as follows:

"Synergy" w/ machine ground swept point or tanto blade & solid color handle is $250

add $20 for multi-color "CA Camo" handle

add $50 for Elishewitz handground blade (based on availability)

2) The knife is tip down carry.

3) The "Slim" handle does not have a clip and has a few more curves in the finger groove areas than the standard handle. It seems to fit smaller hands better, though some with larger hands like it too.

Thanks again to everyone for their friendship and TREMENDOUS support.

Time to jump on a plane for Costa Mesa. Please drop by the SPEEDTECH table & say hello.

Stay sharp!

Jim

Well, I've been trying to get somone over there to take my order, but nobody seems to be in much of a hurry to sell anything. One day Melanie was out and nobody else was qualified to take an order, the next day nobody even answers the phone. That does make me wonder a bit.

Arizona-

I apologize for SPEEDTECH not being able to fulfill your needs in a timely fashion. You just contacted us during some extreme circumstances. Melanie was in an automobile accident over the weekend (she's OK, her car's not), but is back in the office today and I have just returned from the BLADE Show.

Melanie makes every attempt to answer all inquiries and messages as soon as she is able, trying to do so the same day.

If you would like to place an order, please try again & leave a message if Melanie is unavailable. If that doesn't suit you, please send me an email and I will personally attend to your needs.

SPEEDTECH does value your business and will try to the full extent of our ability to service our customers.

Stay sharp,

Jim

BTW, SpeedTech is one of the specific manufacturers sharing the Non Specific Manufacturer Forum.

By the way, I recently threw my Synergy into a edge holding and toughness evaluation I was doing with a REKAT Pioneer II and a Benchmade ATS-34 blade. The 154-CM Synergy blade performed very well. It takes a very fine edge for stainless, and I found it to be exceptional in terms of edge holding. After some very hard use, I steeled all the blades and the Synergy was the only one that came back to near shaving sharpness. Great knives with great blades.

I haven't had the opportunity to hold a Speedtech yet

I like what I've seen, though. I'm posting because of what a haven't seen; I can't find a picture of the knife in the closed position anywhere on the Speedtech site. I hope that Speedtech will correct this oversight during the next update.

The concept of custom options on a productive knife is very exciting. I'll be watching with interest. Let me take the challenge of "buyer input" one step further, however. Is there any chance Speedtech would allow someone to grind the blade themselves before heat-treatment?

-Drew

Drew - I'll scan pics of both sides of a Synergy with the blade closed later today. I'll send them to you in an e-mail this evening.

Ok, my worries have been evaporated

I got to order my fist knife today and the experience was great. Mel is a joy to talk to and the service was excellent. I am now happyly awaiting the arrival of knife #1.

These things are so well designed and precisely made that I keep hearing the siren song of the Titanium and stainless Damascus model. I'm balking at the notion of an $800 production knife, but I don't know where you would get a better knife for the same price if you like the style.
