I have a chance to purchase a 2"x48" knife grinder from a retired maker. I have never even heard of this brand of machine. Is this something worth purchasing, or am I better off with something different. I currently have a Grizzly that I have been pretty happy with, but that is all I have for comparison. Any help would be appreciated.

I haven't heard of this brand of grinder, but you will be better off in the long run, if you can find something that uses 72" belts.

i have not heard of this brand. but it depends on how much he wants for it. the down side of 2x42"s is that you can't get the ceramic belts in this size. you can get plenty of s/c and a/o belts even at sears on a sunday. so i would think about taking the palten out and useing it for slack belt handle shapeing. if the price is right.

I remember them, they were called speed cut,I think they were in Ephraim,Utah. There was some controversy about taking deposits/payment in full, and not shipping the grinders. The back and forth arguments in the knife mag went on for a while then faded as did speed cut.It was supposed to be a good grinder.
