A bit off the subject. but do any of you guys know where I might find a Spencer rifle or carbine. Working repro would do fine.

Check out The Single Shot Exchange. You may have to get the magazine, but for a BP guy like you, you would love it. Lot's of people making quality repro's, mostly Sharps and Rolling Blocks, but there may be some Spencers also. I've got a C. Sharps in .45-70.

I recall Guns & Ammo doing a review of a new spencer carbine several months ago. I don't remember the issue or manufacturer, but if you went to a library you could probably locate it.

It might have been Shooting Times, too, but I think it was in G&A. I felt a little bad that I might have sent you on a wild goose chase so I did a quick search and www.taylorsfirearms.com and www.ramanorifles.com both make a reproduction Spencer Carbine. They aren't cheap!
