Spend my $50 on a task folder

Ok, my current EDCs are a Commander, AFCK, Model 47 Balisong, Woo and a Safekeeper. The AFCK is my task knife and has served me well but I want to send it back to BM for sharpening and a tune up. I have $50 give or take to spend on a heavy duty task folder that will see uniformed police service as well worn in my strong side rear pocket. I like big folders with wide blades. I have it narrowed down between the CRKT Lightfoot M1, CRKT Kasper Folder and the Timerline Worden Tatical. I am leaning towards the WORTAC...just becasue it looks damn cool. Thoughts? My SD blades are all plain edges. Should my task folder be half and half

I would recommend against the 50/50. I had a 50/50 FRN Delica until recently and I realized that this design isn't the best of both worlds. Instead it's cruel reminder of what either style blade is capable of if it is full length.

Agreed. I'm a plain edge fan myself, but full serrated Spydercos are some MEAN edges!

Oh sh*t, forgot one. I carry a serrated Spydie Endura (hold out blade) in my trauma plate pocket.

How about a partially serrated Native FRN? In 440V for nostalgia or S30V so you can actually sharpen it.

I dont know any of the knives that you mentioned, but one that is large that I enjoy is the Smith & Wesson FL2. Its a Darrel Ralph design, kinda like a big EDC.

The FL2 is a workhorse. First of all, it's all metal, and a framelock. It is tip-down. The blade is slightly recurved.

It is as wide as a Commander, with the closed blade sticking out very much the same -- same motion needed to open it with a thumb-flick. As big as it is, it is very flat. Worn IWB, you hardly notice it; in a pocket, it scarcely prints.

I gave mine to my brother-in-law who is a police officer, and it replaced his other knives.

Plain all the way. Of the three you mention, I only have experience with the first two (i.e. M1 and KFF). Both are very solid knives but I think the main difference between the two are their weights. The M1 is a heftier knife but it does have the flipper. Can't go wrong with either but I would personally lean towards the Kasper.

You are already carrying a lot of steel. Why not just use one of the other 4 knives? You'll get your Benchmade back in less than 3 weeks. The Endura is the ultimate "task" knife. In its current incarnation, it has about 5 generations of design "tuning" as a "user knife." Use it. According to Spyderco's Sal Glesser, the Endura "takes a licking and is still ticking" as reported by thousands of satisfied users.

M1 is a great knife , but the smith and wesson FL2 is much more knife , and is a DR creation ...Either is a great buy in the knife dept .
