Had a great time helping friend chop firewood. Ironically, I have the Velvicut axe and no fireplace, friend has beyond dull splitter and a fireplace.

This was my first time using the axe and I was so impressed I wanted to post here. So after chopping a full half cord of alder and hickory, I checked the bit and could discern no loss of sharpness, and despite technically being a felling a e, it performed great as a splitter.

Again, I must apologize for no pictures, but there was really no change to the edge.

My hat off to Council Tool for a superior product, a real pleasure to use.

Man, it is nice when you have a tool so nice you go looking for work as an excuse to use it. :)
It surprises me that it split so well. I have had zero luck splitting with a standard axe. A heavy, dull go-devil is my choice.
I guess a Velvicut is just an overachiever. ;)

Thanks for the report. FWIW, alder is about the easiest wood in the world to split. I don't know about hickory because it doesn't grow around here.
