Man, what a great guy! My brothers and I spent the day with Ron Newton. We got to watch him forge some Moasic Damascus. AND, he showed us all his secrets! I wish I knew what it all meant, but I'm just a wanna-be (knifemaker)AF guy.

Seriously, this guy is a true artist at his craft, and one heck of a guy! I can see why he obtained his MS this year, he's is gonna be one of the really BIG knifemakers. I really enjoyed spending time with him, it was the highlight of my vacation, except for the seed-ticks that got a-hold of me (course you NewYorkers never seen one of them).

The forging he did is eventually gonna be a 30" sword, that will be on display at the "Arkansas Territorial Restoration Museum" (say that 3 times real fast).

I tell you, my brothers and I are so excited, we are thinking of making our own knives, of course we can never hope to get to his level of knifemaking.

Check out his work.

Oh yeah!

My brother came up with a good Newton slogan.

"It's not just a knife....It's a Newton"!!

Gary, You're too kind with words.

You guys made a good video of the day. Got my copy and watched it today. All the "secrets" turned out clear.

The billet has since been accordian cut and forged into a 31- 3/4" broadsword about 1-1/4" wide.

Come back soon!

I'd sure like to see a picture of that sword when it's done. Please think about posting a picture about it in the sword forum if possible.

Heck with the picture, send me that sword and I will test it a little! :>) I have some car doors that need to be pried open!
