Spey blade video I saw.

So I'm watching YouTube knife videos the other night. Sorry I don't have a link for you but this fellow was doing a review of a trapper, rough rider maybe. Anyway he goes to talking about the spey blade on this knife and how the tip is rounded etc. Then he starts poking this spey blade into the palm of his hand showing how it was blunt. I was a little surprised by this cause if he had done this with the spey blade on my Case Trapper he would have had to have a lot of stitches and that's the way it came from the factory. What is your experience with your spey blades could you do that with yor knife without cutting the crap out of your hand?

No it's a knife it will cut you. Funny story not a traditional knife but I have this microtec troudon switchblade that shoots out the top with pretty assertive force. I'm showing it to my cousin Rob and hand it to him the second he gets it he holds his hand over it and hits the button. Yeah there was blood everywhere and yes I laughed then took him to the hospital.

No, mine would be sharp enough to cut, but the spey shape is made such that it is not as likely to cut or puncture fleshy parts that are not intended to be cut. Maybe that particular spey was just dull from the factory or had been dulled by the reviewer. I don't know why he would though.

I much prefer a wharncliffe secondary on my trappers. I find it much more useful than the spey, except for spreading butter or mayo.

I have a case trapper that I carry every time I go camping that has a Spey that has never been used except for sandwich duty great for mayo,mustard, peanut butter ect.. I still wouldn't recommend poking your hand with it

You guys aren't kidding. Spey blade is the best folding butter knife I could ask for. Gives a whole nother element of utility to the trapper.

I use mine to slice lots of stuff bit the tip is still sharp as all get out.
