Sphinx Search Feedback

After a couple hours of work, a lot of fumbling on my part, and some very much appreciated help from Justin@TheFiringLine, Sphinx came up around 3 am this morning. So far I'm really impressed with it's performance and especially the amount of time it takes for searches to come back.

With that in mind, we're probably going to open search back up to all members again. If there is a huge performance hit, it's coming back down.

To be brutally honest, hopefully we don't see a huge hit in memberships. If that does happen, sorry non-paying members but the site has to stay open.

I did a search a minute ago and was AMAZED at the results popping as if I had just hit "new posts". Thanks for all you do. Now, go get a nap.

I've Been using it on and off for the last 24 hrs.

Wow. It's like, 500 horsepower compared to before. I did a search of a name, and it shot back every thread in milliseconds.

Seems successful in searching for a term for a specific username, too.

It's working very well. Fast search, not to mention very clean organization. I like it very much.

orders of magnitude better. I did searches for 'spyderco', 'military', & 'knife' and actually got results, and immediately to boot. Old search would choke on common words.

I have been playing with search and love how fast and accurate it is. Seems about twice as fast as the old search (which didn't seem slow either) but this one is quick!
