I love it. My first test of a new knife is to peel an apple, and this little guy does that job great! In fact, it peels an apple better than any knife I own.
The sheath is kydex and has just the perfect amount of snap to it. It's also very nice and smooth on the inside and the knife fits perfectly in it.
I don't like wearing a knife around my neck, but I have an IWB snap strap and right now it's sitting on my right hip. Totally unobtrusive and comfortable.
I can't totally tell for sure, but it looks as though the straight edge is hollow ground, and the belly to tip is flat ground. If that's the case- bonus COOL points!
The spine is nicely rounded and the accuracy of the plunge cuts and grind lines is very toight!
I just have to say, and this is by no means to be taken in a disparaging way, the the edge was machine finished. So, I spent a little time with my ceramics and polished the edge bevels up for a consistent, shaving sharp edge. Apparently it's 1095, and the steel took the polishing just about how it should for a properly hardened edge.
I traded this knife;
for it, and I am much happier with what I have now. The fellow who got the Maynard is equally happy.
Trading knives is fun! In fact, I got another Burt Foster hunter in a trade on the very same day!
This one! (Look familiar, Roger?

)
I traded it for this knife by Stephan Fowler;
The knives are flyin around fast and furious. I'm really starting to enjoy the finding of treasures. More booty! Yaaaarr!
ps. spider bite is the name of the little Burchtree knife, but you can also take it to mean that I've been bitten by the knifecollecting arachnid.
