A huge mutant spider bent on hostile takeover of my domicile was met at the front door by Mr. Muddy Mojo. There is now a peaceful agreement to where Mr. Huge A$$ Alien Spider can reside at my front door as long as he doesn't enter and crawl up my back. I hope this does not deter USPS from delivering any Busse shipments.

Big spiders eat big bugs - Looks like a tarantula- keep him around for sure. Might come in handy!

Now about them scorpions ............

Nice looking Spider... I wonder what it is:confused:

Methinks it be a tarantula of some type. It's been raining a lot so his/her burrow must've flooded. They're pretty common where I live, along with scorpions and rattlers. Haven't stumbled across a rattlesnake in a while, though.

Boy, y'all grow 'em big out there!

Oh, and congrats on post 600!! ;)

Damn I miss Texas!!! I saw a huge shadow on the road from about 50 yards as I got closer I saw it slowly moving...as I got on top it....it was one of them about 6" around! It was friggin huge! The scorpions aren't so bad....like a bee sting. we would try to find them and get stung in hopes of going back to the rear early while doing training exercises! I felt like I was in the Amazon.....there were these GIANT ants that had paths worn in the grass and they didn't build a mound....only a thumb size hole in the ground.....never seen these ants anywhere else......man I miss Texas, I hear Huntsville is pretty nice.

That would be an awesome pic if you had close up of the tarantula next to the Mojo width wise! " Spine up"

(( sidenote- only at the safe opportunity ))

Sounds like Fort Hood and all the fun bitey things thereabouts to me! Those ants there are on steroids. When an ant makes a trail on hard gravel surfaces, you know they mean bidness.

I live way far away from Huntsville but it does have excellent scenery at the university. The prisons aren't exactly my cup o' tea, though.

Nice spider. Is it for sale. What are its specs. How thick is it and what does it weigh?

Ft. Hood it was....the Spiders were in and around the Copperas Cove/ Kempner area......I miss Texas.

I don't know what kind it is but if it was on my porch, I'd smash it. I have little ones all over my place. I am dreading the day I run across a recluse, they are prevalent in the region as I understand it.

Laugh!!!! Great response =) There are some spiders in the rainforest as big as dinner plates! AK-47 please!!!!

I'll take one of each. The knife I can make up to my wife. The spider, however, will get me in big trouble. But I like the little bugger. :)

Be careful! You do NOT want to get bit by one of those. Keep your distance.

Mrs. OP goes crazy whenever she sees ANY spider. It is one of my manliest duties to negotiate a change of domicile for all arachnids found within our walls.

I think Maquahuitl should negotiate his own deal with the Tarantula. It ought to make a fine guard for his Busse collection! All those extra eyes should make it a fine 'guard dog.' Not to mention those long fangs!
