Hey,
I have not posted in this sub but lurk and have been a fan of Axes, Tomahawks, etc for a long time. I am also a full time maker of sharp things. Not soliciting, they sell as fast I can make them, but thought I would share these pics of a custom order I just finished up. Feedback welcome of course.
Here are some quick cell phone shots of a custom order just completed and shipped out.
Here are the specs:
Hand forged from a ball peen hammer head. This L6 high carbon steel is shaving sharp and super tough. The steel has been normalized 3 times to refine the grain of the steel and then heat treated, and tempered to 59-60 Rockwell for great cutting performance, edge retention and sharpen-ability. The handle is locally sourced big leaf maple. It has been treated with an aquafortis finish to bring out a 3D quilting that the camera just can not capture. It will only improve in appearance with age. The hand tooled leather treatments are designed for safe, and still practical carry options in the field.
