Spike sticking

Hey Fellow ATC Hawksters

It has been awhile since I have posted.
Anyway, I was throwing my Tactical Grade Vietnam Hawk, and tried it spike first. IT STUCK! Looked kind of strange with the blade side facing me.
So who else likes to stick that spike?

BTW Andy, I have not forgotten you. Your package will be coming soon. :D It just took awhile for me to get this thing.

See you in the field.

Hi Greg! Good to hear from you brother.

Spike sticks are fun, yes.

BUT, they place tremendous stress at the eye junction because the handle is on the upper part of the turning stroke, and actually moving with more velocity and force at that moment than a conventional stick. (Dr. Cliff...correct me if I am wrong on this, but I believe this to be true from my own experience.)

At a single turn distance, there isn't much to worry about in terms of breakage, but if you step off to two turns, it can indeed snap.

Anyway, some other trick throws which are fun include:

Reverse Cross Body - be careful not to catch yourself on the body with the Spike, but try to get the Tomahawk to pinwheel horizontally one turn to the target...it's kind of like a backhand in Tennis.

Downward 45 degree - strong side - this allows the Hawk to attack targets low to the ground, as the head, due to its weight, will actually get the Hawk to land almost horizontally because it starts to pitch in flight, leveling off the handle by the time it gets to one turn. Two turns for this style of throw is VERRRRRRY difficult, although I'm sure Buccellato could do it! ;D (Hey Louis! Thanks for the review BTW my man!)

Enjoy!
