Spine too sharp

I just recently bought a Benchmade Bushcrafter 162. Its s30v steel.

The only problem I have with it is that the edges of the spine are way too sharp. It has cut my thumb while using it.

I can send it back to Benchmade and have them fix it. But I'd rather do it myself.

Should I just use a course/medium/fine stones on it to round it off a little? I don't care about throwing sparks from the spine so having a sharp edge isn't a priority for me.

Thanks for any advice.

Sandpaper on a sanding block (with a somewhat soft backing) does a great job... usually just a fine grit is all you need to use to reduce the sharp edges.

To be specific, I would use 1000 or 2000 grit. Any autoparts store should carry the dark gray sandpaper that you need. Wood sandpaper won't work well. I don't bother with a block. I just use my fingers with the center of the finger print over the corner. That way I feel like my finger conforms to the edge keeping the sandpaper sanding in the right spot. I am having trouble explaining this but it is really a simple process. I just did it to a GEC Hayin Helper that had a burr on both sides of the spine. It took me less than a minute.

I'll try the sand paper route.

I don't mind the sharp spine but it cuts my thumb and it doss feel like there is a burr there.
