I thought that:
Spine whacks result in premature wearing of the liner, distorting the lock engagement angle that Emerson reccomends and if it fails the test, rounding over the lock face on the Ti.
There is already a ton of force generated by the wave when that liner springs at full force to the end of its engagement on the tang. ( as opposed to a slow open where it slides up the lock face to lockup.)
Correct me if I am wrong.
