Picked this up at the sale and did not notice there was a nail nick instead of a hole for opening the blade. The top and bottom knife have the same date code.

That's how the slimlines were in the big box stores in Canada. I think it had something to do with customs policies for knives with thumb holes.

I just took a tour of Cabela's Canada and Canadian Tire websites and all the knives that would normally have thumbholes were there.

Okay, I'm assuming that it's an international version that caters to some specific regions. Or Buck went with nail nick and thumb hole to test the waters. I've seen Bantams with nail nicks instead of thumb studs too.
The one Walmart only had all nail nick 722's and I think the Canadian Tire I looked at also had it.

I was in my local Walmart (Kemptville) and they had the slimline with the nail nick there on clear-out. Only had a couple left but they didn't interest me at the time.

I like the thumb hole better but I'm used to the nail nick on 110's

The top and bottom knives are Spitfires. The middle knife is the Slimline which was an SFO for Wal-Mart (different handle profile and no swedge on the blade).

That's the first Spitfire I've seen with a nail nick instead of a thumbhole. Interesting.

That nail nick is a nice and unusual feature. I prefer the hole, but the knife knail knick is a kneat option.

I like variety but easy one hand opening is it's main feature. I prefer the thumb hole. In fact, without that I can't overlook the lock rock issue.
