Split Ring For Mini Light

I recently got a 4 Sevens Mini AA. Great light, perfect size for my EDC and one major flaw: the size of the hole for the retaining ring. It is tiny. The split ring that came with the light and fits this hole is thinner than a paper clip. There is no way to drill out the hole for a more substantial ring because the stock is so small.

I wanted to carry this light on my key ring, but am leery of the split ring pulling open if my keys snag on a pocket or something.

I have run into the same problem with other small key ring tools. I have seen ads for titanium split rings, but am not sure they will fit in a hole that small. And looks like it would cost a lot to find out! So: any suggestions for something more substantial?

my Fenix E01 doesn't have much material around the mounting hole... I added another slightly larger split ring to the smaller one on the premise that less force would be transmitted to the aluminum housing... something like that might be an option for you

I had a similar situation with my cell phone. I have some small diameter nylon cord (~ 1/16") that I made a small loop about 1/4" across, then used that as a ring to thread some paracord through to make a lanyard. I suppose one could put a small slit ring through the loop to attach to your key ring.

I think that some braided nylon masons line would work pretty well.
