The fibreglass shaft of my £20 splitting maul broke. It won't re-shaft as it's too small a circumfrence for timber. Plus its given me a great excuse to buy a quality axe. I'm torn between a GBruxs splitting axe or the chopper 1 I don't need a maul as they're both quite expensive I'll just use my sledge. The Swedish GB axes have great steel for edge retention (I have the small wildlife hatchet) but I love the idea of the reported splitting ability of the chopper but is it a gimmick and is the steel as good? I'm torn between the too. Any one had experience with both?
