Has anybody got the problem as me?
I have collected/used pocket knives, folders for some time (think decades not years) now I have a problem in the morning deciding which knife do use that day.
I spend time that I can not afford making that selection?
Suggestions are welcome, what are the reasons you choose a knife to spent the day with? (At least 8-9 hrs away from home)

I can never decide, that's why I change out knives several times a day :D

If I know I can't though first pick is my S90V millie because I know it will take care of any cutting task that I may encounter.

I probably don't have nearly as many as you. I like to open up the case and pick the one that catches my eye the quickest. For the past month its been the D2 Para :)

I have my AG Russell Sting I use for an EDC self defense knife, and a Kabar Warthog folder for utility. Isn't much of a choice to make, the 15 dollar Warthog has never let me down and if I lose it I'm not going to cry.

I usually stick with the same knife for a few days at a time, but when its time to switch it up, I have a hard time chosing

Strider PT at home and Strider SNG or Emerson CQC10 at work. I have really tried to switch it up, but those knives always find their way back into my pocket.

I have so few knives that I find myself in no such dilemma. My EDC right now is a Persistence. If I'm cutting food or near water, I switch to my Salt 1 because of the H1 steel. If I need to wear dress slacks, I grab my Ladybug and/or SAK.

I stand there at the door to the safe looking, thinking, trying em out. Thinking of what I'll be doing.

Yep, I'm in the same boat! Kind of a drag sometimes. I really wish I had one knife I loved head and shoulders above the rest.

I have about 10-12 that I choose from every day (most likely several times per day actually :D)

I definitely think it's better to use all 12 than to have 1 that I carry every day and have the other ones just sit there.

I have 21 folders in a knife block on my table. 7 or 8 are in constant rotation for use at work. 4 of them are 3" blade or less and see very little EDC as I generally like a 3.5" or larger. The others are rotated for non-work EDC. I just choose what I feel like. They all see use at one time or another. I always have a LM Ti-Charge, Kershaw A100, and a Boker RESCOM. The RESCOM is a great little knife, very versatile.

Have a hard time choosing the tactical that rides in the right pocket, for the longest time it was a Boker Subcom paired with a black alox pioneer in the left. The left is now occupied by (most of the time) a Case CV Stockman or occaisionally a Soddie. Lately I have been rotating a Spydie Tenacious, Benchmade 710 and Mcusta/Browning Icestorm. Weekends are for my Ken Coats Toothpick...yeah, I hear ya spoilt for choice, but what the heck we live in the Golden Age of knifemaking.

I too have over 25 but stick to my standards: Sebenza classic large or small, BM mini-Rukus, Spyderco Military, or a BM 710. Seem to always pick one of the above over all the others in my storage box.

I'm currently on a yellow theme right now, so it's not too difficult. Usually carrying a yellow peanut, barehead slimline trapper, and pen. There's just something about yellow knives.

If I have trouble, I make my wife pick for me. She's good at choosing the best match out of a pre-selected few.
Otherwise, I usually have a couple. One hard use folder and one slipjoint. These can rotate together or independently, and at varying intervals. Sometimes I go days or weeks without rotating one or both.
In other words, there's virtually no rhyme or reason to my knife selection, beyond the tools' ability to do the work I need them to do.

I always have my Benchmade Rift, a Salt 1 I use as a money clip, and a letherman micra (micro?) in my pockets and that never changes. The Rift is my favorite hands down. I then will add another knife IWB and rotate. Kershaw RAM or OD1, Benchmade mini-grip, Spyderco Native or Caly 3 ZDP. Heck sometimes I will pick up a knife to use and it will get stuck in a pocket on top of all of those.

I like these so much I don't see the need for others yet I still buy them. So they sit in their box until I figure out something to do with it which doesn't happen much. Rarely I get a knife that I like so much it goes straight to my pocket. The caly 3 was the last one that I did that with. I have a feeling if I got a ZDP stretch it would go straight to my pocket. One of these days I will find a more expensive knife I have to have and break out a M4 710 or S90V Manix2 to trade. Heck a lot of the NIB knives I have I like but would probably trade if I just new of something I had to have. Not being able to handle knives locally makes picking one I like hard so I buy them and put them up.

Of course I also have my cell phone, Ti Ruger 38, Fenix P2D or lately a great cheapie AKOray K106, car keys w/ mini sharpie, wallet, Bic lighter and the occasional other crap.

It's hard to do if I'm not wearing cargo shorts.

Dang I'm rambling...

Nine times out of ten, I'll reach for my yellow Pacific Salt (PE), accompanied by a Micra and Ladybug Salt on my keychain. The tenth time is something random, a Pardue Mini-Grip, Case Peanut or Med. Stockman, or a SAK Tinker. I have many more options, but those are the most frequent offenders.
