Spook : neck/multicarry by T.H. Rinaldi

Tobse,
I like it! I've looked at these on Rinaldi's web site and have seriously thought about getting one.

Did you ask for a modification of the "standard" blade shape other than the recurve? I'm thinking of the drop point, which looks fairly straight in your photo, but not in his.

The blade I received is the current standard format of the Spook - including the recurve. The picture on Trace's wesite is that of an earlier spook - He also changed the handle design (the micarta slabs now cover the whole tang, including the lanyard hole). If I remember correctly, the picture on his website is taken at an angle that makes judging blade shape and point orientation harder than the mugshot I took.

Take care,
Tobse !

I LIKE it. You got it in D2. Is that a standard option for Trace now?
I assume the full flat grind (it appears, or maybe you said that in one or other of the posts) lends to better/smoother cutting than the-- what, saber grind-- of the 710?

That is a REALLY neat knife!! Yeah, I'm jealous/envious/covetous... all those bad words.

ATS-34 is still the standard steel Trace uses, but as far as I know, knives in other steels (He offered me BG-42, D-2, A-2 and Talonite) are no problem, it might just take him longer to get the materials. The full flat grind on the Spook makes for a more acute wedge shape than the saber grind of the Axis, so cuts are noticably smoother.

Take care,
Tobse !

Thanks Tobse. I'm in the process of e-mailing Trace right now to inquire about a Spook. Beautiful knife!
