i only saw two reviews of it from google searches and yours was the 2nd one from years ago. holding up well after all these years or is it a pos? did you end up adding more grommets or left it as is? i'll get mine tomorrow so i can still return it unopened if it's not as good as it looks.

Its still going, I bought 3, all have been used, and my general theory is, they good, equivalent to the golite poncho but in Multicam with is a plus in many peoples minds (me included). Worst story with it, In Korea Sept 2010 during a typhoon I had to run between hangers with it. Was it enjoyable. No. As with all ponchos, its hard for them to breath and your legs usually get wet, run across a solid cement runway and you pretty much guarantee it will not matter if you are wearing a poncho or not, you will get soaked. Other than that, it has been great, seen some rain in Balad Iraq, seen some storms here in Utah, strung it up a few times for overhead protection, but typically I am in a hammock or other shelter (usually Kifaru or MSR depending on season/ number in group etc). that being said. This poncho is much lighter than a mil-spec poncho. the material is thinner and reminds me of my golite poncho/ shelter.

A few concerns I noticed when I first got it was the snaps are TIGHT, so tight I swear I was going to pull one side of the snap thru the material, but to my surprise it has not occurred. I did add a few grommets to is since they hardly contain any to begin with and they are not placed in the best location. I used the smaller grommet size which is just right for a piece of 550cord to pass thru it. The expandable tail is a wash for me, at first I thought it was great, however if you wear it with the tail "UP" then later decide to wear it "DOWN" you will notice that the fold in fabric trapped some water and will be west to when you unfold it, the wet side is against your legs/ rear. The multicam design is great and done nicely, some were worried that it would fade or how it was attached. Well almost 4 years later, its still MC. Infact in my review of the Kifaru MC woobie, I included my opsec for a swatch comparison. As you see below, its pattern/ color is perfect.

Again, it is a UL poncho, that being said, if you try to drag buddy to safety with it like an old milspec woodland, you will chew right thru it, but thru typical use, im sure it will give many years of good service. One thing I do like about ponchos is ease of donning when a storm rolls in, I carry the poncho in the top lid/ ZXR of my kifaur packs or in the top are of my camelbak daypacks. And most the time can remove it, open it, and don it without doffing/ removing the pack. I also feel this is why the ponchos last longer as well since the pack straps are not resting on the pack and rubbing thru since it floats ontop of everything. Im pretty sure you will like it. Either way, let us know what you think so other members have more than just 1 or 2 reviews to go off of.

Thanks.

FYI here is that photo, obviously the MC/ Coyote woobie is the base, Top row left to right- Truspec MC trousers, MC OPSEC, MC Tactical tailor minimav setup (the coyote band holding the tourniquet is a real coyote color and not faded like pants shown next), bottom row left to right, faded pair of coyote Truspec 24.7 pants, Arcteryx LEAF "crocodile" atom pants, Arcteryx Atom jacket in totem color.

Forgot to add, when installing my own grommets, the first was a near failure, I tired to just punch it thru as is, on the outside hem. It made it, but not very well, took a little practice on an old tarp on getting them to cut clean holes thru the fabric as the grommet seat correctly. Recommend practicing on something first so you do not have an oops moment as well.

thanks! i received mine earlier today and checked it out - everything looks good so far. i'm going on an overnighter tomorrow (possibly a 2-nighter if i don't get too bored since i'll be by myself) and this will be my main shelter (i'll bring a backup tarp just in case) to test it out. forecast calls for 6" of snow so it's a good test if it's enough to serve as my only shelter. i sold my bcusa 10'x10' tarp a few days ago - it was way too big. good to hear it has held up just fine.

Really looking forward to your after action report and review, let me (or us) know how it works out for you. Talk with you in a few days.

Nice write up guys. Thanks. I've looked at these before but forgotten about them. Are you guys buying directly from Survival Solutions or is there another source?
