Wanted to do this for some time now, so I finally took a deep breath and this is the preliminary result. I found a piece of 2x4 at work, 'bout 20'' long and sawed it in 4. I then used my Leatherman Surge to cut a rough blank and the BHK Large Workhorse to do the actual carving. After 3 hours of work I got this:
Used 600 grit sandpaper to smooth the surfaces. It still needs a lot of sanding and it came out a little uneven.

I sure wish I had a knife with a scandi grind for this but I can't complain too much about the Workhorse either. That D2 is shaving sharp and the edge retention is just awesome (keep in mind that, although this is pine, it is dry as hell).
Now, if I could only get my hands on a hook knife....
