picked this guy up for $8 bucks at a small antique shop. pretty good shape still and usable. the sheath has shrunk somewhat making it nearly impossible to close. but the sheath is etched sportsmans pal as well. anybody got an estimated date on these guys??? it still had the box and paper work so I figured what the heck- Joel

Your Sportsman's Pal was made in the 1960's in Solingen Germany. There were a number of different importers that sold slight variations of it, including Montgomery Wards. Some had corkscrews (like yours) while others had an awl (like pictured on your box)

Some had a smooth finish, some were crinkle finish.

All were made of regular carbon steel, then nickel plated to prevent rust.

Looking at yours, I'm surprised the sheath is so weathered given how good the box and instruction sheet have held up.
