I'm no where near the master learher workers on here who make art out of their sheaths, but can make something nice and functional that holds a knife and keeps it safe. I was going to start making Ferro rods to go with my knives and was hoping to get some ideas on where and how to secure a Ferro rod to the sheath that isn't super complex. Thanks!

I've seen them, and done them, both on the front and on the welt of the sheath. The simpler by far is on the front, but the look is rather subjective. Some like it, some dont.

I'm nowhere near a professional leather maker but I've done them on the on the top and bottom of the sheath, depending on the lines. I will leave extra on the sheath front and loop it over and skive it and carefully fit it in the welt.

Here are two examples, one a pouch sheath and one a high ride dagger style..

It's not real complex but it does take a little time and patience to get a good fit to the welt. Just go slow and it's easier to form it and loop it around the rod if the leather is wet.

Good luck on your build and please share it with us.
