I received my concept model of the new version of the SPOT, and it is amazing! I really hope this hits the market, because it is a real winner! That's really all I can say righ now, until I get word from Mr. Glesser as to what can be said about it. I know Spyderco doesn't like to release too much about protos, and I have to respect that. But, man, I gotta' tell ya', it's a doozy! :D

Good news!

I realize you can't say much or show pictures, but can I ask one thing?

How stabby is it? :)

I've had the SPOTs out recently and I'm thinking of grinding off the serrations on my AUS-6 model into a wharnecliffe style, like someone else did whose name I unfortunately cannot remember. I have been reconsidering the handle size and even with hard use, I'm finding it almost impossible to use it in a position where the skeletal handle is uncomfortable or ineffectually small. It fits like the Meercat does.

A triangular blade like the Ronin excites me from a sharpening and penetration point of view. Extra length is going to be nice as well with the loss of the reverse-S blade, but I think it will appeal to more users as it is a more familiar shape. I believe the more utilitarian design aspect (less SD-purposed) will also win over more fans.

J.Davey, when you find out what you can say, I have a few questions if thats OK?
What angle is the cutting edge to the axis of your grip? (ie. handle to blade angle)
How's the sheath? :D
What's the blade length?
I realise these may be things you were going to point out anyway but I couldn't stop myself!:footinmou

Can't wait to hear more from you!

Pics are ok.

any input is appreicated.

The entire "business chain" from; raw materials, manufacturing, marketing, selling, distributing, shipping, warrantees, insurance, credit, etc. ALL EXISTS to service the ELU (End Line User). Remove the ELU from the equation and the entire business chain falls like a house of cards. We all work for you!

I would love one of these for an EDC. I currently carry an EKI La Griffe, but the blade design limits it's utility for daily use - it's more of an emergency tool.

My input: I will order one of these they day they become available.

Sounds great. And looks great from the pics that I have seen. I love the blade style, excellent for a small knife and more useful than a reverse S, at least for me.

Hopefully the index finger hole will be large enough to fit the index finger completely. One of the biggest flaws of the similarly styled CRKT bear claw was, in fact, a hole that was too small. The hole in the EKI La Griffe is close to perfect in size.

Where can I find a pic of the knife. A wharncliffe SPOT sounds like the ideal neck knife...

Cool! I never got the old SPOT because the blade shape is not what I like.

Could it be made with another small hole drilled in the handle, just behind the large finger hole, to aid in adding custom handle slabs? That way it would have 2 pin holes all set to go.

I'm glad to here that everyone seems to be really digging this ne design! It is every bit as comfortable as the original SPOT, just a bit beefier and it just feels more substantial in your hand. And let me tell ya', the thing cuts like laser (there's that cliche' again)! For those who haven't read my testing of the SWICK so far, go here and read my posts (you may find yourself either laughing at out loud or slightly disturbed by one of my cutting tests, but you would have to agree that it makes perfect sense): http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=336172&page=4&pp=20

I may have missed it glancing through the thread, but do you have a preliminary weight for it? I'd like a good little FB to carry while running, but my shorts are pretty lightweight and won't support too much steel bouncing around. I currently carry a Salt I IWB and don't even notice it. The H1 is great despite being sweated on all the time, but it would be nice to cut out the step of having to open the folder if I ever need it.

How will the Swick hold itself in the sheath? I just got the cheap AUS6 Spot, and it has a bump thing on both sides of the blade. It clicks into the sheath perfectly. Not too tight or loose. I would like to see all neck knives have this, especially the Swick.
