spot weld hilt?

I have a USAF Ontario Survival Knive, and don't like the way the hilt rattles around. If I were to "hit" the top of the hilt where it contacts the blade with a wire welder, would it ruin the blade temper? Thanks

That seems like a questionable course of action. Is there enough of a gap that you could work some JB Weld into it? JB Weld (epoxy w/metal in it) is often used by custom knife makers to help seal/secure the guard.

Thanks Mr. Bad Example, but there is not enough of a gap. It's almost a perfect fit, but just enough "wiggle" to anoy me.

Hmmm--I suppose there is no non-destructive way to remove the handle to get to the guard?

How about working some (thin, not gel) "super glue" into the joint?

Any welding temperature heat is going to ruin the heat treat in that area of the blade, not to mention looking very bad.

Perhaps someone else will have more ideas.
