spots on my spydie

No, but I'm gonna file this away, just in case it happens to me. Thanks for the idea!

Toothpaste or Flitz will work too. Do not use the coarse side of a sponge; it will leave scratches on the finish. Anything more abrasive than Flitz or toothpaste (or even these if you work hard enough) will leave shiny spots too.

I had that brown/reddish discoloration on the back of the blade where the lock engages on my Paramilitary. Looked like a thin layer of rust to me. I cleaned it with a rubber polishing wheel with my Dremel, then coated the area with a rust preventive>

Impossible to know now that it is "cleaned" but often such brownish areas in the depths of unfinished areas (in the lock, inside the spydie hole, etc.) are actually just discolorations from the laser cutter and not rust. FYI. :)

Thanks for the FYI. I don't remember seeing the "brown stuff" out of the box but I will keep an eye out if it returns. If it does, I will know it is rust.

Yeah, what I was speaking of would come from the factory that way.
