So this past Sunday, the wife and I decided to go to the local gun and knife show to kill some time and see what we could get into. We were there for a little while cruising the tables when I spot a guy the next row of tables over selling what first appear to be CRK knives along with other known brands. I point the display out to my wife as we walk over in front of the guy's table. He says hello and I ask where he gets his knives. The guy replies from several "distributors". As I'm browsing his table, he attempts to avoid me and starts talking to another guy who walked up. I start asking more questions about his knives and point out the CRK logo laying on the table in front of an oviously fake Sebenza. I ask for the birthcard and box the knife is suppose to come in and he presents me with a glossy finished, cheap cardboard box, maybe a little wider than a watch box. I pick up this so called Sebenza and my wife and I start checking it out. So many things were wrong with it, too many to list. I asked my wife to find the guy who is over the show and get him to meet back at the table while I stayed there to let EVERYONE know about his counterfeit knives. The guy who's table I was standing in front of became very nervous as I confronted him about the knives and pointed out the ovbious fakes. He started shaking and stuttering and at some point, was walking back and forth searching for a flat rock to crawl under. A few minutes later, my wife came back with the manager of the show and I explained to him how the guy was selling fake knives and was displaying all those makers logos. The manager, says he had no idea about knives and had no idea if they were fake or not, so I pointed out each thing on the different knives that indicated they were fakes and kept pushing the point until the manager had enough. although he didnt make the guy take down his booth and leave, he did say he was going to "check into them". Yea, sure he did.
So, being in the business, I gathered some information, took some pics and contacted the Department of the Secretary of State Office the folowing day. provided all of the imformation and forwarded the pics I had taken as well.
Having said all of this, wanted to give everyone a heads up !

Haze, It's kind of hard to tell in the pic, but the price on the Sebenza is $60 ... not $360 !! I think you are seeing the $ and it looks like a 3.

Good on ya. That Hinderer in the back looks all wrong too. I bet he got these from a Chinese company that is notorious for counterfeits and just went public with IPO.
Cheers

The Hinderer in the pic was horribly wrong and was for sale for $ 45. ALL of the knives on this guys table were fakes.

Yea, that is exactly what I was seeing. :foot: I see those same knives for about US$15 at best in the shady shops in Taiwan.

You did the right thing, people like that do nothing good for the knife world.

Good for you, I would have done the same thing! Too bad the show won't do anything to stop him, they don't care as long as they get their money from him for the table.

Should pass him some similar cash,,, you know the $3 Clintons etc.

That really ticks me off. Thank you for doing your part to hopefully help stop/deter him.

That was pretty ballsy to call the guy out in front of everybody and have your wife grab the manager.
Stinks the manager didn't make him put them away or kick him out.

If you look on CRK's website they have that knife pictured with the other counterfeits they have encountered.

A counterfeit at a gun show is par for the course. Why expect the gun show proprietor to do something? You were lucky the guy was not violent or believes in pay back or you or your wife might have gotten a suprise in the rest room or parking lot.

Sometimes $60 is a small price to pay for learning a good lesson about deals that are too good to be true. As the manager of e-bay used to say, if you don't know enough to know you are buying a fake, don't buy it.
