Spotting counterfeits?

After doing a small amount of research on Emerson Knives I noticed a fair amount of talk about fakes being sold by less reputable dealers and individuals. Is there an easy way to spot these copies and if not what are the tells?

Most knife makers have links for dealers that they do business with on their sites. Your best bet is to stick with those.

I have a couple of online dealers I trust and a local shop that occasionally has some nice things. Got mine from a reputable online dealer. The reason I asked is because I don't believe I've ever seen a fake Emerson so I don't know how close they are to the real thing.

Iv seen a few fakes here in Taiwan and if you are familiour with the real thing I doubt you would be fooled by one.

The things to look at are the screws and placing of screws being off,
the blade finish and grind are usually sub par at best,
the logo while able to be coppied fairly well is usually placed badly and just dosnt look right (its not been laser etched on the ones iv seen).
The g-10 texture is not the same and the finish and always looks wrong.
The spacer is never the same material EKI use and the thumb discs are odd looking too.
The price is usually a bit of a give away as well

Another way to spot a fake emerson is to feel the ridges on the liner lock. if its sharp that it hurts your thumb when actuating it, then its fake. the liner lock is also thinner

Another obvious way to spot a fake an emerson is to check the serial number on the blade. some counterfeits may have it but if you see an emerson without a serial number, then its mostly likely fake

To add any that I've ever seen have had the SAME serial or were a series of the same numbers.
