It was bound to happen, my co-workers know i'm a Knife Knut (and a Flashaholic...), i've shown off my knives and my growing sharpening skills, they typically respond in the normal way "oh, that's nice", y'know, humoring the office nut.... ;)

i've offered to sharpen "Crichton's" old multitool he carries around, but he has yet to take me up on that offer, and "Rygel" doesn't sem to care either way....
(Names Farscaped to protect the innocent.... ;) )

today, i come into work, and "Crichton" comes over to my desk, proudly showing me his new toy.....

a new Leatherman Juice C4 multitool (the "big" mini-Leatherman), he seems very happy with it, he even bought it from the place i buy all my knives from.....

....now, to get him addicted to Spyderco and Kershaw, i may just let him use my Kershaw Scallion, he seems to like gadgets (heck, what self-respecting red-blooded male *doesn't*...), and the Scallion has the gadget factor going in spades, it may not have built in pliers, screwdrivers, and such, but the AO feature trumps all the tools in Crichton's Leatherman....

....now, to get Rygel addicted too.....

At my work Ditt is an old hunting buddy. He liked the Adventurer SAK that I generally carried and picked out a similar long lock-bladed SAK's about 3 years ago. He has been coming by my cube to get his knives sharpened for over a year. Last week I gave him one of my old V-style ceramic hones and taught him how to use it. Next I'll have to show him what a premium alloy can do.

I have one like that in our QA department. He started to notice how handy my LM PST was and went out and bought a Wave (that was a year or so ago:) ). Late last year, he decided that having a folder around would be handy, so when I was out with him one day, I showed him a Bryd Cara Cara and he fell in love with it. Recently, he went out and got himself an FRN/CE Endura. He actually enjoys seeing all my acquisitions and just shakes his head when ever I bring a new one to show him. I think between his Cara Cara and Endura, I purchased between 12 or 15 folders before my other toys:)

The other day, I sharpened the security guard's CRKT Point Guard, and showed him my EKI CQC-10. He fell in love with the Wave, and asked me where to get one. :D

I'm currently doing a group buy for a bunch of Murray Carter's knives for the group at work.

Update; the sickness is taking a stronger hold at work, "Crichton" is really lovin' his Leatherman, uses it every chance he gets, since the merchandise boxes come in the front of the store, he's the first to open them up, beats me to the opening every time (then again, i get to open my service parts...)

yesterday, i gave "Rygel" my old Gerber EZ-Out beater, i'm never gonna' use it again, and i'd rather someone get use out of it, when i gave him the knife, his eyes lit up, he really likes it.... (and it's my old beater)

so now, Rygel and Crichton are racing each other to get to open the packages , when a customer buys an iMac, and wants us to install ram, for example, the box is usually opened before i can get to it

i showed them both the Harpy, and they both seemed to like it, it's when i showed them how useful the hawkbill blade is for opening packages they really started to see the potential of the hawkbill

i think i've created monsters... ;)

Good work! :D

Esav,

Seven or eight of his muteki line...a couple of the nakiri, a few of the funayuki, a honsuki, and a wabocho. I'll probably also add in a set of stones and the sharpening dvd.

All of the people are getting them because they have seen just how sharp they are. I just couldn't recommend his custom knives for them...the best value/use for them is the muteki line.

Heck, we had Show and Tell at work today. I brought in my small Sebenza and my Gransfors Bruks Small Forest Axe. I then advised them to get onto bladeforums.com to learn more.

Yes sir.

I'm just the reverse as I was the late in life inductee. I always had an interest in knives, though it generally revolved around kitchen knives and a million gizmos to try to sharpen them. I owned the occassional POS slipjoint, but typically misplaced them very quickly or pitched them because they just wouldn't cut.

We move here with a job change and the first day, one of my guys opens a box with the most god-awful, ugly as sin and a rapid fire open that made me step back and wonder what kind of guys am I going to be working with. Several others had the same knife which in fact was the Endura SE from Spyderco.

That started the process of becoming a knifeknut and I eventually bought all of them a BM Griptillian in D2 when we had a spectacular month. Bought myself one as well. Then I discovered this forum surfing for info on sharpening.

Less than 2 years later, I have at least 20 knives; Micusta, Spydercos, Benchmades, Kershaws; an Edge Pro PRO, Sharpmaker with UF and Diamond rods and several stropping boards.
You know that as much as I say "No Way!", a Sebbie is out there with my name on it.

'Tis truly a contagious disease.

Yea all the guys where I work know I'm a nut.......even have a few of them wanting me to sharpen there knives for them ..( however there are a few of them that are afraid to let me sharpen there knives )... Hell my wife even brought home a knife that she borrowed of one of the guys where she works to be ..well restored I should say lol.....she needed a knife to cut open a plastic bag, and it wouldnt even do that... Ive even got my stepson goin in the right direction I think.......
