Hi, new member here.

So I decided to take apart my spring assisted because I wanted to see how it worked exactly. Anyway, I managed to take it apart, have fun, learn, et cetera, but when I went to reassemble it it would not lock up. The lock up mechanism is one where part of the handle shifts under the blade, holding it in place. This piece does not touch the blade anymore, which leaves the blade in free motion. The parts I have are the handle, the blade, the "spring", two white washers, one black washer and the hex key piece (allen wrench) where i tighten the blade. I can take pictures if necessary but was wondering if there was any quick solution.

Thanks!

What kind of knife is it? Taking apart a spring-assisted folding knife can be tricky, so I certainly hope you took pictures of it over the course of disassembly -- reassembling a spring-assisted knife without reference pictures is a bit tricky from my own experience.

Anyway, from what I've read the best solution is to take it apart, re-lube the pivot and try to reassemble it. If that doesn't work, then another avenue is to send the knife back to the manufacturer; however sometimes taking apart a knife voids the warranty with some companies, and they may charge you for parts/labor should they choose to fix it for you.

You may also try posting your question in the Maintenance, Tinkering & Embellishment section of the forum, as I'm sure there are a lot more experience knife users who may have run into a similar problem with spring-assisted folders.

Hope that helps.
