Spring-assisted knife too sensitive

My brother gave me this snake eye a few months ago and when I barely touched the flipper, the damn thing sprung open and got my finger good. It's so sensitive. It's a great knife but I don't carry it with me because I'm afraid of it opening in my pocket or while it's clipped to my belt. Does anyone know how I can fix this or if it's even possible to fix it?

If it opens too easily, that’s probably the fault of a weak detent but it’s hard to know without seeing the knife.

Sorry I had to resend the link. Image or not, would you know what to do to fix an oversensitive knife?

try carefully taking it apart and taking a look at things, maybe if its possible remove the spring and turn it into a manual folder? but don't quote me on that, im not too sure if that's possible

Removing the spring should be possible but might result in some internal rattling noise.
The detent ball may be pressed in too far, and if so could be replaced with a larger one.
Or the detent hole may not align perfectly with the ball in which case you could enlarge the hole slightly fully engage the ball.

I needs to be taken apart and inspected buy someone who is more familiar with it then you. No disrespect meant.

Welcome to the forums MJ.

You could always go to youtube and search "how to disassemble a knife" and "how to de-assist a knife". Nick Shabazz has several videos on how to take apart a knife I know. Many (not all) spring assisted knives can be de-assisted as others have mentioned. This turns it into a manual knife. I don't know if your knife can be de-assisted tho. I guess the good news, most Snake Eye knives are under $15. If you go slow and take pics or video the disassembly of the knife and it doesn't work, you could always put the torsion spring back into it.

If you want some suggestions on a manual (ie. no spring to shoot the blade out) knife, let us know a budget and we can suggest a few knives for you.
