As a warm up to Zmbhntr's camping trip, I took the family camping this weekend. I knew it was going to be a little cold, but really wanted to take the new truck out and get it dirty.
We headed out to the George Washington National Forest, and eventually found the forest road, from there it was just finding a flat enough spot to pitch a tent. No regulations in this area, camp where you want and burn all the dead wood you can find.
This road looked untraveled, so we headed up.
Jackpot!
A great spot where we could pitch the tent, dig out a fire pit, and park the truck. We had to clear a few trees and thorn brush, to make sure the area above the fire pit was clear, the cgfbm made quick work of that.
Daughter wanted in on the action.
It dropped down to about 34 or less that night, but we were cozy as could be inside.
The next morning was COLD❄️❄️! A proper breakfast was in order.
My son showing me "how I sharpen my tools"
She's back at it!
Packed up and headed out to explore. All in all, the truck was awesome, we found a few spots where even in 4lo, and the rear differential locked, it wouldn't get up, but once I put it in 'crawl control', it just crept right up. It's definitely a helpful feature for someone with little off roading technique.
