As a warm up to Zmbhntr's camping trip, I took the family camping this weekend. I knew it was going to be a little cold, but really wanted to take the new truck out and get it dirty.

We headed out to the George Washington National Forest, and eventually found the forest road, from there it was just finding a flat enough spot to pitch a tent. No regulations in this area, camp where you want and burn all the dead wood you can find.
This road looked untraveled, so we headed up.

Jackpot!
A great spot where we could pitch the tent, dig out a fire pit, and park the truck. We had to clear a few trees and thorn brush, to make sure the area above the fire pit was clear, the cgfbm made quick work of that.
Daughter wanted in on the action.

It dropped down to about 34 or less that night, but we were cozy as could be inside.
The next morning was COLD❄️❄️! A proper breakfast was in order.

Packed up and headed out to explore. All in all, the truck was awesome, we found a few spots where even in 4lo, and the rear differential locked, it wouldn't get up, but once I put it in 'crawl control', it just crept right up. It's definitely a helpful feature for someone with little off roading technique.

Glad to see the hockey tape is working out for you there. :D

Doing stuff like this is something the little ones won't forget. Hopefully I can find a fun place to go with my children once they are old enough to appreciate it.

Looks like you had fun!

A very cool week end. For sure, moments that will last for ever in your memory

Awesome rcb. Looks like a memorable time man. Hope my daughter likes knives as much as yours when she's that age.

Thanks guys, two funny things I forgot.
One, the picture of the road above, those tire tracks are mine, I walked down to get a better look at it. My daughter had been playing down there while we were setting up camp. She had placed that branch as a deterrent for others who would come camp by us :D.
Also, while my wife was chopping with my knife I cheered her on "yeah honey, make them chips fly!" Only to be mocked the rest of the weekend by my daughter. In her best 'old grampy' voice "make them chips fly!"
Awesome.
She's the same one who prior to last years INFI in the woods trip said "what are you guys going to be doing? Just saying 'hey bro, check out my new knife'?". She was surprisingly spot on

Its fantastic to see you and your family enjoying the outdoors :) Looks like everyone had a good time. How did the truck perform?

That is awesome awesome awesome buddy! Looks like you guys had a fantastic trip. Nothing better than getting out in the woods with your family! Your new truck looks great, and your daughter sounds like a character, haha. I nominate you to pull out Guy if he gets stuck coming up my driveway with his little car on the camping trip.

I think we might have the same family tent. I notice that your bacon was not "ready cooked", but I'll let that go. Nice cooler too, I bet that thing will be able to keep a large supply of Budweiser at a proper chill!

Awesome pics RCB. Wondering how you like the new Tacoma? I am considering trading my current Tacoma in for one of the newer models (off road, of course).

Thanks for bringing us along. Looks like a good trip.
Nice truck.

Thanks!
I have no other Tacoma to compare it to, but I absolutely love it.
I definitely recommend the TRD Off Road to the Sport, or even the SR or SR5,, the 3k more is worth it for the off road features.
I did not go with the technology package, that would have added heated seats/blind spot detectors,, and more for 3 k more.

Awesome rcb! Love getting outdoors with the kids! Looks like you had a great time. I'm camping with my son next week (Cub Scouts)... Skinny ASH1 is coming along too. If the Busse ever releases a new infi FBM, I'll be sure to pick one up!

Good times man! Your daughters got a good sense of humour, so does the misses :D how old is your boy? Not old enough to swing that blade around I suppose. Nothing better than going camping with the family

Yeah she gets it from her mom, the son is 4, defiantly not ready for a knife. He does have a little wooden one I made for him, to begin teaching him proper handling
