Hi.

Anyone ever use metal spring clamps with vinyl covered jaws to stop a metal workpiece moving whilst filing or sawing? I would like some clamps I can use with one hand.

Thanks.

Scott

Harbor Freight has some. I use them around the shop for a variety of purposes. But mostly for handle glue up.

Vise grip C-clamps can be applied with one hand once they are set to the right tension and have much better holding power. If it's in a jig, e.g., for hand sanding, you could use a hold down toggle clamp for one hand operation.

Vise-Grip C clamps sound a good idea Hubert S. I might buy a pair. Thanks for mentioning them.

Scaniaman: I have just looked online at Kant Twist clamps. The design is new to me.

Thanks Natlek. They look like well designed clamps. However, I would need both hands to use them unlike the Vice-Grip C clamps mentioned by Hubert S.

Just a note about these cantilever type clamps. The all look similar, but quality ranges a lot between brands. The old Kant-Twist and Mag-Mate brands aren't that great anymore. I use the EHOMA cantilever clamps. They seem well made and sturdier.
