Spring colors - A walk in the yard

A cell phone with a decent camera, a vintage pocket knife, and the cool clean air of the morning after a rain stom. I could do this all day...

(Don't know why it uploaded this way...)

I don't have lots of property, or even a huge lot. My house was built in 1920, this Almond tree was planted shortly there after(1922 or so), and the knife is an early 1900's Gottlieb Hammesfahr in mother of pearl, a short walk that has made a big impression on me today. I cut several stems of the almond blossoms for a small arrangement for my wife.

Yeah, it's spring here. My peach tree is in full bloom, and my plum tree is starting. Some of the commercial peach/nectarine orchards that I pass on my way to work are in bloom.

My in-laws live in Stockton, maybe we should get together next time I'm there. I could bring a box of antique slipjoints for show & tell, and you could regale me with yours.

Thanx Carl, this knife was had for only $4 at an antique store and the clerk said it cracked when he dropped it the day before.

It is rather nice, I was surprised at how well it came out, for being a cell phone pic. Had wonderful light today, I wish I didn't have to go to work I would of just made a day shooting almond blossoms in the back yard!

Sounds great to me! I live in Midtown, on the Miracle Mile, look me up and we can get a coffee or beer and have a show and tell.

You are so lucky to have blossom already! Flowering trees really are impressive, the more so since your Almond has been in the garden right from the building of the house. No such luck here in Scandiland...my Pears and other fruits won't show untll at least mid MAY....

I love that old knife, it looks so at home in front of the camera, very glamorous. :thumbup:
