I seem to be having the opposite problem as Mr. S. Even my friends have notice the lack of nature photos I've been taking. Now... it comes a nice sunny Saturday and I'm all set to go for a hike and when I get to the red light instead of turning right and heading for the mountains I turn left and head down town. Hell...with all the hills I get as much exercise or more walking around down town for six hours as I do in the woods anyway.
I can immediately tell that Spring is here...the roll up doors at the big river are open. and most of the sidewalk tables are occupied again.
I thought what the heck...might as well grab a bite to eat before my hike...so I stopped at the Panera Bread Co., also known as St Louis Bread Co. in Mo. and Ill., and had lunch. Sierra Turkey with garden greens, Bermuda onion, and smoked Gouda with chipotle mayo on asiago bread and Baked Potato soup with a hunk of fresh baguette mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm!!
I think maybe part of the draw to the urban environment for me is that I spent so much time on the outside of "those rails" walking by places like this.. pack slung over my back and no money in my pocket...looking wistfully at the plates of food in front of the people there. In all honesty, I enjoy seeing life from this side of the rail and haven't really grown tired of it yet. Old habits die hard though....because I am really liking how this Sitka pack buckles. I can buckle it through the bars in the chair and not worry about somebody running by and snatching it while I'm editing my pictures.
Lots of construction under way...It seems we will soon have an Applebees down town.
Looks like Republic Parking is building yet another parking lot.
And UNUM Provident is expanding their facility
