Spring time has come! Well, temps above 35 degrees signify springtime for me!

I have been climbing the walls with cabin fever for a couple months now. Impacted and infected wisdom teeth (that did come out), strep throat and resulting stomach issues from all of the antibiotics I've had to take, have left me at home most of this winter. Maryland didn't get much snow, but I did get to find a few blades at a local junk mall. A Case XX moose, a Remington barlow from the 30s and a Schrade from the 40s to 50s. Pics will be forthcoming when I reup for my gold membership.

What have you found in your travels so far? Jack Black, you are the man for finding good stuff at the junk malls. I have been reading your threads dreaming about getting to the junk malls and finding those treasures. Maybe I'll even find a few Sheffields on this side of the pond.

Are you going to check out any of the antique(junk) shops in Frederick?

I've seen some slip joints there time to time. Let me know and I'll meet ya there and we'll hit the Black Hog for some BBQ!

I'm afraid I've had a dry week Dan :( I went over to York on Monday, where I had previously spotted, but misidentified a Case-made clasp knife, only to find it had gone, and I didn't get a single knife at the flea-market I attended yesterday. My kitchen table is looking a bit tidy at the moment! ;eek: ;)

Happy Hunting my friend

Dan, you and I are on the same page -- I'm feeling like a red-breasted robin, overjoyed by the warmer weather to the point of hopping around and whistling songs. 'Tis the season, yessir, for the flea markets and junk shops. Here's hoping that we can find a worm! This spring, I've resolved to explore a little more in the counties that surround this urban pimple we call Philadelphia (which is, as one might guess, nearly devoid of any knives for sale aside from Chinese switchblades and the like). Over the winter, I heard tell of some good picking grounds, in Bucks County, which I hope to find.
Looking forward to seeing what you fellas dig up! Best of luck, and happy hunting!

Being from England can you explain what a 'junk mall' is?.... I'm guessing its like a car boot sale.

Sort of like a car boot sale, yes... picture a low, wide building, mostly one giant room, but inside is housed a number of smaller booths or stalls, if you will, each run by a different individual who is hawking his/her wares. Lots of used items, antiques, vintage stuff, and yes, some junk as well. ;)

I hit up the antique junk malls this weekend in Atlanta and came up empty handed, unfortunately. Most of the knives were actually junk and not quite antique. There *was* one mint Case peanut but it was about 3x what you'd pay to nab one out on the bay.

Better luck to y'all!

Yes, that would be cool. Let me know if you come up, and I'll do the same if I come down.

I went to the Gardens in Kennett Square a couple years ago on my birthday, and was hoping to find a junk mall out there.
