I need to replace the lock springs in one of my knives, and while I'm doing it, I figure I'd upgrade from the stainless steel springs it had by default.
Can anyone recommend a good material for a spring.
For lack of the technical term, it's a coiled spring. I'd like something with high corrosion resistance, high fatigue resistance, and something that's not going to break if subjected so sudden impact(dropping a knife happens)
Any suggestions? I was looking at Titanium(but read it can shatter if improperly machined) and Beryllium Copper(carcinogenic in dust particles, and causes skin irriation, but not sure if it has the same properties in it's finished form)
Any recommendations?
