Spring problem on a small Texas jack

I got this in the mail today. The pen blade operates fine but the clip has no spring or snap at any point. The spring never moves and the blade seems to sit too high to engage the spring. As you can see the point is not inside the liners when fully closed and the clip spring sits lower in the liners than the pen spring.

I'm at a loss since the pin is obviously going through the blade and nothing else seems off kilter.

Is there hope for this short of complete disassembly? I only gave $7.50 for it shipped and it's missing the case badge. But those cv blades are amazing. Hair popping sharp. I'd love to carry it, but that protruding point is a problem.

It appears as if the tang of that blade has worn too much, most of that is typically due to lack of proper lubrication. Since the tang has worn so much, there is nothing putting tension on the spring, which gives the blade its' snap. The spring is probably in decent shape, the best way to fix that, unfortunately, is to replace the worn blade. If you can find a donor knife or blade, the repair is pretty straight forward if you know what to do.

Find a blade, send everything to me, and I'll do the work on the house for you.

That was my first thought, but it didn't seem to explain why the blade seems to ride so high. The whole length of the blade seems to be higher than it should be. I wouldn't think that a worn tang would cause the blade to not close fully.

But maybe I'm just thinking of it wrong.

It's a wonderful offer you've made. I'll have to keep my eyes peeled for another cv blade, or maybe this becomes a parts knife.
