Its been a slow gentle thaw of the snowpack, like a normal spring for a change. We still have 2 feet or more of snowpack and the ice on the lakes are 2 feet thick or better. Now is a great time to be out ice fishing, snowmobiling, cutting and hauling firewood, and cross country skiing. With warmer weather near the freezing mark one does not have to wear heavy clothing to enjoy late winter conditions. I am in no rush for the snow to melt, once it does everything starts growing, hatching, flying/biting, crawlling, chewing, not to mention the fire season and allergies. Winter has always been my favorite season. However, once we get past spring with the biting flies, and enter high summer, there comes the good times on the beach and patio.
