Springfield MA

I do not believe that there are any local ordinances in Springfield prohibiting knives with blades over 2.5" from being carried in public. Most of the cities that have such ordinances are located near Boston on the North Shore (Boston itself, Revere, Lynn, Salem, and Beverly). The only other cities that I know of that have such ordinances are Lawrence and Worcester. You may wish to check online to see if an ordinance was passed, but I have not heard of any. Usually, they get a lot of publicity in the press as an anti-crime, keep-the-sheeple-safe measure. Remember, this is Massachusetts, a notorious anti-weapon, anti-self-defense state. Keep your EDC knife completely concealed and maintain a low profile at all times.

I have a friend who was a Springfield police officer for over 10 years. I'll ask him about it next time I see him. I go to Springfield quite often and always carry a knife. Never had any problems. As long as your not doing anything illegal, you should be fine carrying. Springfield is not the safest city out there, you should have something on you.
