Sprint Ops Pro - blade open in pocket?

I've had my eye on a Sprint Ops Pro or some higher end variation of the Sprint to add a modern style buck EDC my collection. It's a pretty penny to dish out, so I've been reading a lot of reviews online and I see people complaining/worrying that the knife opens too easy and will open in a pocket.

Has anyone had issues with this happening with their Sprint?

Also, how does the liner lock hold up? It looks so thin and I had a bad experience with a liner lock failing me and I had written off liner locks until I started looking at the Sprint Ops Pro.

Any other info as to how the knife has held up for you would be more than welcome.

The detent you have to overcome to flip the knife open is rather strong.

I can't see the knife opening inadvertently being a problem.

I do use the pocket clip.
I guess if you were to carry the knife in the bottom of your pocket there could be a concern.

I've had few problems with Buck's linerlocks. Of the one's that concerned me it was on a new knife and I believe the lockup actually get better with use.

But that was only on a knife or two, and I have dozens that were good from the beginning.

Overall I think the Sprint is a quality knife that shouldn't give you any problems.

I have a Sprint Ops Pro and a Sprint Pro, the latter being carried regularly. Neither have ever come close to opening accidentally. They both need a fairy firm pull to flip open, though not annoyingly firm - just enough to have to mean it to open them. The action on both of these is among the best of all of my flippers.

I also have not had a problem with the liner locks, though I don’t abuse them, either. Like the detent, you have to mean it to release it to close.

Both of these are my #1 and #2 favorites - the Sprint Pro is almost always my go-to carry knife, but I really love them both. If they look like they’d be of interest to you, I say they’re worth their price. You can’t go wrong.

Thanks, fellas! I appreciate the responses. I really like the look of them. Glad to hear they take a little force to open.

If I recall Buck reworked them awhile back adding a stronger opening detent.

I believe someone at Buck stated that here some time ago......
So maybe your concerns were indeed valid at one time.

I really don't believe there would be an issue with the current knives.

I own a couple of them early versions and later made ones. I cant see them opening using the pocket clip. never had it happen to me.

on Buck liner locks.....I've tested most of mine by back pressure on the spine....fingers out of the way. all I've tested the lock bar doesn't move towards the open side. I have seen this happen mostly on chinese made brands....or chinese made by brands like boker. same with frame locks. I wouldn't worry about that on this as you do have the flipper tab to give some stoppage under normal cutting usage. meaning not stabbing hard things like a tree. not sure why anyone would do that though, that isn't a kid.
