How many of you fellow knife nuts e.d.c. your limited sprint run knives? Or do just by them as a collector? Just recived my sprint run military in carpenter steel and am having a hard time putting it my pocket. I already carry a military in s30v. Want to carry it just dont want to devalue it.

I bought my Spyderco Military in CPM D2 to be a user. Just can't see not using a knife this good. It is in my EDC rotation:)

I bought 2 orange Militaries (though that may have not been an actual sprint run) and 2 brown XHP Militaries, so I would have one of each to carry, and one of each to hoard. But if I only had one sprint run knife, I would almost certainly carry it. I don't ever plan on selling my knives, and when I croak, whoever gets them won't care if they are used or NIB.

OTOH, I also have a titanium/G10 Military that I can't bring myself to carry, though I have come close a few times.

I've been EDCing my grey Para 2 for the past two months now. I can't imagine buying a knife and not using it, especially when it's something new.

I won't buy one unless I intend on using it. If it's a really nice sprint and I can afford it I buy an extra "pre need replacement" but I'm not in the financial bracket that allows me to buy tools I don't intend to use, only collect. There are times I will let go of an extra if I need the money but it's not done as a money making thing. If it's worth more than I initially paid then all well and good but that isn't my purpose. I'd rather have the extra knife in almost every case. Some, like the Caly 3.5 super blue sprint I've waited decades for a knife in that style and size with that particular steel.

I was sharpening and changing the edge on my already extremely sharp Spyderco Caly 3.5 Hitachi Super Blue sprint 20 minutes after I opened the box.

Man that stuff takes a wicked edge! Clean like the best Vim Var powdered steels too. Amazing stuff for an ingot steel!

This is why I love sprints, and feel very fortunate Spyderco puts them out for us AFI's.

I usually buy two of each sprint run knife I want.

I have 2 of the S90 paras, two of the CTS-20 paras, two of the brown XHP millies, and three of the M4 manix. So yeah, I will always use my sprint run knives because I always have a backup. If I wasn't able to buy a pre need replacement then I'm not entirely sure I'd be able to use a sprint.

I think they are made specifically to be used. Especially the ones with the high end or super steels. They put those special steels in there to get used!

I have been alternating my 20cp p2 and xhp military as my edc. I wont buy a knife that I wont use. If it something that I really like and couldn't live with myself if something happened to it then I buy a backup just in case. I dont feel so nervous using a knife if I know that I have another to replace it if something happens.

Use 'em and if you gotta ease your mind, save up and double down. Also helps if manufacturer offers spa treatment for their knives- then you got no excuse.

I'd like to EDC my Shabaria. Two things keep me from doing so. One is that the carbon fibre while very attractive is completely smooth and lacking in any texture at all (true the knife shape helps with retention but I'd still like a little friction). The 2nd is, it just radiates collectable. Some knives are born for display.

Everything I now have is a 'user'. I just can't stand the thought of not using a fine knife.

I use mine but I also carry beater knives in my tool bag and car for any tasks approaching abuse.

Exactly. I use them all save for this one.
