Hi I’m totally new to spur making as I use a lot of spurs and would like to get into it what does anyone recommend I use for a welder for spur making could I get away with a 160 amp or would it need to be bigger totally lost and know nothing any advice would be great!

A TIG welder is what you want. while 160 amps would do spurs, you will eventually want to to other things. a 200 or 240 amp multi-function welder is a better choice. You can buy a simple hobby grade one for a couple hundred dollars.
