How many times have you bought a knife just because you and it were in the same place at the same time and you, just spur of the moment, bought it? Because I am rebuilding my collection, I have the knives I intend to purchase written down as to which ones I plan to buy for this month, and for the next 5 months down the road. This helps to keep me focused and I do not end up with spur of the moment purchases, and I'm proud to say that I have stuck by my guns:thumbup:..until today:thumbdn:
I walked in to a local shop where you find mostly Case knives for sale. There are also some Bucks, Kershaw's, Boker, and Cold Steel, not many mind you, but enough to take a look. So, I'm looking at these knives and ask to see a few, a Kershaw Junkyard Dog, a Kershaw Blur, a Buck 112FG, and a Cold Steel AK-47. At some point I've owned all but the Cold Steel, so I paid it a little bit more attention. What I saw was a pretty robust knife. I've started taking a liking to some of the stout and stubby folders that seem to be finding their way to the marketplace. The AK, at 9.25" oal, has a blade that is 3.5" long and .150" thick. Short and stubby in my book! To make a long story short, I walked out with the Cold Steel AK-47 and was well satisfied with the purchase. Of course it didn't hurt that I got it for around $50.00, and it was brand spanking new.
Anyway, that is the question...............what are your most recent "spur of the moment" knife purchases?
