How many times have you bought a knife just because you and it were in the same place at the same time and you, just spur of the moment, bought it? Because I am rebuilding my collection, I have the knives I intend to purchase written down as to which ones I plan to buy for this month, and for the next 5 months down the road. This helps to keep me focused and I do not end up with spur of the moment purchases, and I'm proud to say that I have stuck by my guns:thumbup:..until today:thumbdn:

I walked in to a local shop where you find mostly Case knives for sale. There are also some Bucks, Kershaw's, Boker, and Cold Steel, not many mind you, but enough to take a look. So, I'm looking at these knives and ask to see a few, a Kershaw Junkyard Dog, a Kershaw Blur, a Buck 112FG, and a Cold Steel AK-47. At some point I've owned all but the Cold Steel, so I paid it a little bit more attention. What I saw was a pretty robust knife. I've started taking a liking to some of the stout and stubby folders that seem to be finding their way to the marketplace. The AK, at 9.25" oal, has a blade that is 3.5" long and .150" thick. Short and stubby in my book! To make a long story short, I walked out with the Cold Steel AK-47 and was well satisfied with the purchase. Of course it didn't hurt that I got it for around $50.00, and it was brand spanking new.

Anyway, that is the question...............what are your most recent "spur of the moment" knife purchases?:D

I drink and shop online. Does that count?

Some days knives come in that I never knew I bought. :D

I make way too many spur-of-the-moment purchases. My most recent was a Boker AK-74 Automatic. Terrific knife, great fun to play with; too bad it's a felony to carry it in Texas.

I know what you mean about drinking and buying online. A couple of years ago I bid $4800 on a used Buck 112 on ebay. Boy was I glad when that auction was over.

Damn...I thought I was the only one. Since there are more then one of us do we warrant a support group?

A support group?

Nah, we just need some gatherings with internet access and a four-drink minimum. Bring your credit cards!

i havent bought a knife on a spur of the moment decision in a while(6+months) but i dropped $40 on everlast boxing gloves last night while i was supposed to be studying for a calculus test :D

My spur of the moment purchases are lowball bids on ebay. If I win, I get a great deal.

Where at? I need another one. :D

I ran across it on eBay. I had one of those 10% off coupons for using Paypal and found a NIB for $156. I ended up paying $146 and change including shipping after the coupon! The first one I got was $190 with shipping.

I got it from this seller:

Here was my first one:

I was avoiding carrying the first one because it was my only one and Bob Lum's last collaboration before his death but now I get to carry one without remorse since I have one to stash now :D

Actually it is a remake of one of his earlier collaborations
