Sent in a Military, to Sal and the Spy crew on a liner lock fail.

Bout 10 days turn around, they sent me a brand new Military/Camo pe satin blade.
Wow awesome service,,,thx Spyderco

Great to hear it! Not that I'd expect anything less from Spyderco.

Care to share what happened to the original?

Do not know never abused just basic chores,it had a late lockup, never shut on my hands, but a simple spine whack it would fail.

I don't think beating the blade backwards in an unusual way is "basic use". Something like that should not affect the function of the knife. Why would you ever need to use a knife that way? BUT.. (easy forum) since the knife was replaced it probably had some defect. Still, spine whacking is not a diagnostic test of lock up.

Seeing as the designer of the liner lock said that that's a valid test for lock security, I'd take his opinion over yours.

Make sure all of the locking surfaces are completely free of oil. I had one of the older Military models that had lock slippage, and it turned out oil was getting on the tang and locking face. Cleaned them up, and the problem disappeared.

The spine whack test is always done on my knives,, a tap will tell if it is lock proof,,why would you not want to test a lock on any knife.
