Hey guys,
Does anybody have the diamond hones for their spyder tri-angle sharpmaker?
I was just wondering how they perform. When I have to clamp big knives into my lansky I sometimes put knicks it their coating, however the tri-angle usually takes a very long time unless the knife is already pretty sharp. Are the diamond hones for the sharpmaker worth getting?

I love mine. Don't press on tehm too hard and they will remove material at a surprising rate. They've been good enough to keep me from spending the cash for a big set of DMT bench stones so far.

I really like my spydie diamond hones. I use them to re-profile blades more than to just sharpen. And for sure, don't put pressure on them. Basically just the weight of the blade. When you're satisfied, then go on to the grey and white hones.
I re-profiled a custom Buck 119 to 30* (15 per side) and when I cleaned a mess of salmon last week it was pure joy. So I feel the diamond hones are really a worth while tool to add to your sharpening box.

What the others have said, they work great at reprofiling an edge, then onto the dark and white ceramics.

Use them most every weekend at the club sharpening others knives.

I have yet to find them available. Do you know of a place on line? The local knife store can "order" them for a high price.
