Spydercard Problem

First time posting on this forum, love spyderco's knives, but only have a couple. Anyway, I recently noticed 2 small cracks in my spydercard. They begin right where the blade and handle contact and run about 2mm down the handle. So far there's been no blade play or any weakness in the lockup. Has anyone else encountered this problem? If so, did it get any worse? I'm not seeing any signs of it becoming worse and don't really see a reason to send it in to be fixed/replaced at this point. Advice and ideas are welcome, thanks for the help.

...2 small cracks in your Spydercard, and you DON'T see a reason to send it in? If I were you, (and you didn't cause those cracks somehow), I'd package it up and send it on it's way back to Colorado for a replacement, pronto. I'm sure that Spyderco would like to see what caused those cracks.

If I recall correctly (and there is always some doubt there) about a year or more ago this topic was discussed on the Spyderco Forum and Sal indicated that small cracks in corners were a result of the process used to form (stamp) the scales. A search might find the thread.

I have that same problem. I thought it was my fault for practicing opening it with considerable gusto, but I would like to have it replaced.

Just had to take mine out and look...

I hadn't noticed it before, but at the top of the handle, on the point where the opened blade contacts the metal, it has what appears to be cracks in it. After working with quite a bit of tin, I'm used to seeing this type of mark, as it's common in my work. It usually happens when the cut isn't made exactly, and then you fold near or on that cut. It normally doesn't spread, but will in high stress areas(ie cars).

I'm not worried about it, as I haven't opened it anything but thumbed(no spydiedrops), so I can only assume it's factory condition(2 months into ownership).

3yrs into using spyderco, 13 bought, 8 still in my possesion... which means 5 given away as gifts... 3 more coming as soon I have the cash set aside for them...

I have no doubts this is simply a cosmetic thing and nothing to worry about.

I have two Spydercards and they both have the same "problem", I thought about sending mine back long ago, but it never seemed to get any worse on either one. I really havent used them that often, but I dont think it should cause any trouble. I too remember an old thread about this, not sure if it was here or on the Spyderco forums...?
