Spydercard Revisited

Just got a plain Spydercard, my new daily carry. Six months ago, I thought it was boring and useless, then it came to me that for non-knife folks this screams "gadget" not weapon (I've had folks freak out at a plain steel Delica). Though in reverse grip the Card shines.

The AUS 6 is nothing to laugh at, the card is actually sharper than some of my knives. I do wish the choil was more pronounced but then it's not a stabber. I'd like some kydex too but it sits just fine in my wallet.

Ignoring the hump, this is as close as we can get to the plain Rescue/Mariner till the sprint run. I'm not sure if a clip attachment would be good as that liner is a bit exposed. Besides if there's a clip, I'd like a Wave or Cobra Hood feature on it too.

I do understand that a titanium handle is a bit expensive, I think a sprint run in Gin-1, VG-10, or 440V would be great. Maybe call it the Spydercard Express

The more I play with my plain edge Spydercard, the more I see "tactical" aplications and possibilities. I like to grip it with the thumb riding the back of the blade, somewhat like a claw (though I agree that reverse grip is also a good choice). In a life-or-death emergency, I could use it in a "ripping" way, which should prove devastating.

As a southpaw, I can have a Clipit on my right front pants pocket - therefore atracting any possible attention - while at the same time my Spydercard is being palmed on my left pocket, with no one being the wiser.

It's also easy to do inertia openings due to the combination liner lock/steel handle, though I'd rather use the hole whenever possible.

I love my SpyderCard too! The design is great as it is, but I do wish it was available with a high-end steel. Any chance we might someday see it in ATS-55 or 440V?

A titanium frame would be amazing . . . if any of us could afford the result.

Not only am I sold on my SpyderCard; I am trying to pick up more of them, when I can afford it, to give to all my friends.

I might add that the card permits a large area for engraving. special gifts, etc.

The chance of an "exotic" card is not likely due to cost, as mentioned.

I understand that Microtech is working on a similar model with Carbon fiber. You might check with them.

I originally did not like the Spydercard very much. I picked one up several months ago, and have carried it every day since in my fanny pack as a 'spare' knife. I got the plain edge version.

Open, it seems actually larger than its measurements would indicate. This is one of those knives that once you have it, there's almost no excuse not to carry it regardless what else you are carrying.
